Three years on from Hurricane Maria’s catastrophic landfall in Dominica on 18 September 2017, the OECS has reflected on climate change and resilience. OECS Director General Dr. Didacus Jules said: “While we reflect on the devastation wrought by Hurricane Maria, we also take stock of the immense progress achieved to bring Dominica back to the lush unspoilt paradise we all know and love. The destruction in the Bahamas by Hurricane Dorian in 2019, and the extremely busy hurricane season this year, are reminders of the urgent need to bolster regional climate resilience in information technology, financial services, healthcare and disaster risk mitigation.”
