BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 25th June 2026) — Assistant Commissioner of Police Travis Rogers (Head of Operations Directorate) is reminding patrons attending this year’s St. Kitts Music Festival that while small personal-use quantities of cannabis — including up to five pre-rolled joints permitted under the law — may be carried into the venue, smoking, vaping and the public use of cannabis are prohibited within the festival grounds. Speaking during a press conference ahead of the festival on Thursday 25th June 2026, ACP Rogers emphasised that organisers and law enforcement want patrons to enjoy the event while respecting the rules in place to ensure a safe experience for all.
“Let me reiterate our public access to smoking, to cigarettes, tobacco, cannabis, and vaping — so none of these are allowed, by law,” Rogers said. On cannabis quantities: “It’s five pre-rolled. I don’t want people to make a meme out of it… but don’t bring a big bag of ganja. Walk with your five pre-rolls and your lighter; maybe two lighters. You walk with your big bag, it will be taken away.” He also warned vendors against setting up businesses directly outside the main entrance to the festival: “Music Festival is exclusive to the Music Festival and the people who are paying. You can go on the other side, you can go on Victoria Road. We’re not stopping you from making that buck.” ACP Rogers urged everyone to cooperate with law enforcement and festival officials: “We want you to enjoy. We’re not here to kick you out of the music festival. We want you to have fun, whether you be children, adults, old, young — you are going to enjoy the St. Kitts Music Festival without any embarrassing situation.”
