BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Wednesday 14th September 2022) — A non-national recently lost his life in an alleged hit-and-run traffic accident. The deceased is a male who originally hailed from Guyana and was a long-time resident of the St. Peter’s community, believed to be in his 40s or 50s. The deadly incident took place on Friday 9th September 2022 sometime after 10:00 PM along the island main road in the New Road area. Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Department released a wanted poster for a 27-year-old man named Marlin Novas, accused of the offence of causing death by dangerous driving. His address is given as Fort Thomas Road, McKnight, and his birthplace as the Dominican Republic. Police are asking anyone who knows of Novas’ whereabouts to contact the Stapleton Police station by dialling 465-2418 or the nearest police station, or call the crime hotline at 707. RICHARDS CHARGED FOR CAUSING DEATH BY DANGEROUS DRIVING — September 14, 2022
Basseterre, St. Kitts (RSCNPF) — Thirty-nine-year-old Dion Richards of Lower Monkey Hill has been charged for causing the death of Lynette Nanton (26 years old) of College Street Ghaut. Following an autopsy on Nanton’s body on August 26, 2022, it was concluded that her death was due to multiple organ damages due to severe craniofacial trauma as a result of a motorbike accident. Nanton was a passenger on a motor scooter ridden by Jahvan Morton that was involved in a traffic accident on August 8, 2022 along the island Main Road in Brighton, Cayon. Richards attempted to overtake the scooter carrying Nanton, but at the same time a motor truck was travelling in the opposite direction, causing Richards’ vehicle to collide with the scooter. Morton and Nanton fell to the ground. Nanton received injuries to various parts of her body and was transported to the JNF Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on August 22, 2022. Richards was charged on September 12, 2022 for Causing Death by Dangerous Driving.
