On Thursday 8 September 2022, it was announced from Buckingham Palace that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Second had died. She was ninety-six years of age. The Queen passed away peacefully at her private home, Balmoral Castle, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, surrounded by immediate members of her family. She ascended the throne on 22 February 1952 upon the death of her father, His Late Majesty King George The Sixth. She thus reigned for seventy years, and this year celebrated her platinum jubilee.

Queen Elizabeth was a much-loved and greatly admired sovereign. Her devotion to duty was one of the hallmarks of her reign. Her first son and heir, Prince Charles of Wales, described his mother’s passing as a most painful loss that has filled himself and all members of her family with the greatest feelings of grief. Tributes immediately began pouring in from Heads of State and Government, and from persons of all walks of life, in The United Kingdom, Her Majesty’s Realms, The Commonwealth, and countries all across the globe. The Labour Spokesman extends our deepest and heartfelt condolences to all members of the Royal Family. Her first son and heir, Prince Charles, immediately ascended the throne, assuming the title of King Charles The Third. The Queen is dead! Long live The King!
