Dismissed are Shawn Richards, Lindsay Grant and Jonel Powell of the People’s Action Movement, as well as Mark Brantley, Alexis Jeffers and Eric Evelyn of the Concerned Citizens Movement, all stripped of their appointments as Ministers of Government. The news was delivered to the nation via an address on Tuesday 10th May 2022.
PM Harris informed that he asked the Governor-General to remove Shawn Richards from the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and appoint Eugene Hamilton in his stead. “Deputy Prime Minister Hamilton will now have conduct of the Departments and Subjects under the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Posts and Urban Development that had been previously assigned to the Hon Richards.” The portfolios of the removed ministers were reassigned: Wendy Phipps assumed additional responsibility for Tourism and Transport including the Ports; Attorney General Vincent Byron assumed additional responsibility for Foreign Affairs and Aviation, Education, Youth and Sports; and Akilah Byron-Nisbett added the portfolio for Culture. The subjects of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources and Environment were brought under the Ministry of Sustainable Development.
