The Labour Spokesman
At this stage of this year’s Lenten journey we tend to feel tired and become spiritually lethargic, and perhaps even physically so. This is quite understandable, for we are but mere human beings, and the forces of darkness arrayed against us are quite formidable. We may even begin to feel that it is impossible for us to resist the power of the evil one.
However, at Chapter 1 Verse 37 of The Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ According To St Luke we are reassured that with God nothing is impossible. We all can, and should, take comfort in that assurance and continue on our journey full of confidence that, with prayer and fasting, we can restore our connection with our Heavenly Father, and once again enjoy the abundance of His Heavenly Grace. It is at such times that we should pause every now and then and reflect on that which was suffered by Jesus Christ in fulfilment of His divine mission here on earth. God’s love for us is unlimited, that is why He sent His Son to suffer and to die in a most brutal manner, all for our sake. As at Chapter 3 Verse 16 of the Gospel of St John: “For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting.”
