President Trump raised $207.5 million since Election Day in a relentless post-election fundraising drive, telling supporters they can help overturn the results while directing the bulk of cash to his new Save America leadership PAC rather than to legal fights. The majority of donations from joint fundraising appeals go 75% to Save America — a type of political vehicle long derided by watchdogs as a slush fund with few restrictions on how money can be spent. “Trump could potentially use his new leadership PAC to not only preserve his influence within the Republican Party after he leaves the White House, but also to potentially benefit him and his family financially,” said Brendan Fischer of the Campaign Legal Center.
