The Importance Of Trade Unions
In the words of Pope Francis, “Trade Unions have been as essential force for social change, without which a semblance of a decent and humane society is impossible under capitalism.”

Very careful research has clearly shown us that the history of most countries shows that the working class people (the Masses), exclusively by its own efforts, were only able to develop because of Trade-Union consciousness.

However, I am pretty sure that by now the vast majority of persons have heard, read or have known about the genius of Albert Einstein, but what some might not have known is how smart he really was.

Thus, in 1938, he uttered the following quote on why he joined the Trade Union:

“I consider it important, indeed urgently necessary for intellectual workers to get together, both to protect their very own economic status and also generally speaking, to secure their influence in the political field.”

I am therefore requesting that today’s workers think very seriously about the above quote and then ask yourself this question, If a genius like Mr. Einstein was smart enough to join a Trade Union, then what is keeping me back from joining a Trade Union as well.

I don’t want to seen as if I am boasting, but I have been involved with the St. Kitts-Nevis Trades & Labour Union for well over thirty years. In fact, I am a dedicated Trade Union worker. Thus, that makes me a part of an organization that fights not only for benefits for Trade Union members but all workers as well.
