ST. KITTS AND NEVIS SENIOR MEN’S TEAM DRAW WITH FRENCH ST. MARTIN IN CONCACAF NATIONS LEAGUE

St. Kitts and Nevis Senior Men’s Team had to settle for a 1-1 draw with French St. Martin in Concacaf Nations League action at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium presented by Qatar Airways. Pierre-Bertrand Arne gave the visitors the lead in the 34th minute before Kalonji Clarke rescued a point for the Sugar Boyz late in stoppage time. Coach Austin ‘Dico’ Huggins said: “I think we underestimated St. Martin. I am not satisfied with the draw. We didn’t lose but I think that we were supposed to be successful against St. Martin so we have to get back to the drawing board. They made some improvements in their play, they played much harder than we are accustomed to, but we came out with one point so I am happy still.” The Sugar Boyz had already defeated Aruba 3-2 in their Nations League opener in Curaçao the week before.

YOUNG SUGAR BOYZ DEPART FOR U-20 CHAMPIONSHIP IN HONDURAS

The Young Sugar Boyz departed the Federation for Honduras to compete in the Concacaf U-20 Championship. Coach Kevin Welsh expressed confidence that their month-long training programme had gone well: “The preparation has gone very well. The players are collectively ready, fully fit to deal with any particular situation they may be faced with at this tournament. We have the quality and expect to do well.” St. Kitts and Nevis will compete in Group E with Cuba, Canada and the USA. Their first match is against the USA.

LA LIGA BOSS: MAN CITY AND PSG PUTTING EUROPEAN FOOTBALL IN DANGER — BBC SPORT

La Liga president Javier Tebas says European football is in “danger” unless state-owned clubs such as Manchester City and Paris St-Germain can be controlled. La Liga has filed complaints to UEFA about what it believes to be Financial Fair Play breaches by the two clubs. “We’re doing it to defend the football eco-system in Europe,” said Tebas. “PSG’s wages for 2021–22 were 600 million euros. It is impossible. That is without including Mbappe. It is obvious they are not applying FFP rules. It is endangering the entire financial eco-system in Europe.” In July 2020, the Court of Arbitration for Sport overturned a two-year Champions League ban imposed on City by UEFA for FFP breaches.
