SKNFA STATEMENT ON FIFA INVESTIGATION INTO DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL — 3rd February 2022
The St Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) has received and reviewed an online article published in The Guardian newspaper in the United Kingdom titled “Fifa investigates after St Kitts appoint coach accused of sexual abuse.” The SKNFA wishes its stakeholders and the general public to know that FIFA has not contacted the SKNFA to investigate any of the allegations contained in the article. Prior to hiring Mr. Ahmed Mohamed as the SKNFA’s Director of Football, the SKNFA conducted a serious and fulsome due diligence exercise involving consultations with members of the Barbados Football Association, CONCACAF and other persons who knew Mr. Mohamed personally. The SKNFA was, and remains, fully satisfied that Mr. Mohamed is of good character — the allegations made against him being false — and has the requisite technical ability to take SKNFA football to higher levels. The SKNFA believes the article was maliciously contrived by a certain faction of persons who wish to tarnish the good name of the SKNFA and its recently appointed Director of Football.
CWI PAYS TRIBUTE TO EASTON McMORRIS
ST JOHN’S, Antigua — Cricket West Indies (CWI) paid tribute to Easton McMorris, the former Jamaica captain and West Indies batsman, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 86. McMorris made his Test debut for West Indies against Pakistan at Queen’s Park Oval in 1958, in a team alongside Sir Everton Weekes, Sir Garry Sobers and Sir Conrad Hunte. He played 13 Test matches and scored one century — 125 against India at Sabina Park in 1962. CWI President Ricky Skerritt said: “Easton was a true stalwart of the game and contributed significantly at all levels, on and off the field. He was an astute thinker of the game, a shrewd tactician and was respected by his teammates and opponents. The region has lost a true and life-long servant of the game.”
