SCHEME UNITY Must Be Held To Account

Editorial

Prior to February 2015, members and agents of the incumbent regime indulged in a series of devilish activities designed to undermine the administration of our beloved Comrade Leader, Dr. The Right Honourable Denzil Douglas, and the Labour Party and Nevis Reformation Party. One memorable tactic pertained to The Basseterre High School, which they most wickedly denigrated as being a health hazard to our children. They invented all manner of ills and wrongs, sought to show ‘pictures’ of skin problems, and even went so far as to make claims of having to send some of their children abroad for medical treatment. It was all naked fakery, which they persisted in promoting even in the face of expert, scientific findings to the contrary by highly reputable international organisations. They eventually succeeded in getting into office, but little did they know that a very real health hazard was going to land on them like the proverbial ‘ton of bricks’.

COVID-19 has shown them up to be the ill-intentioned, incompetent, power hungry, self-serving creatures that they have always been. Of special interest is the fact that one of their key players in the BHS fiasco — one who subsequently fled the scene very quickly after 16 February 2015 for another ministry — now finds that her entire household is infected with the corona virus. We feel no joy in that development. To the contrary we are deeply saddened by it all. We feel the need to point out to that family, and others, that what goes around does indeed come around. In this case the ‘coming around’ is not only worse than the ‘going around’, but it is very real, and thus infinitely worse.

Whenever politicians, civil servants and business people collude to put into each other’s pockets monies to which they are not entitled, they rob their respective countries and people of the amounts of money involved, plus lost opportunities for the development of their populations in business, schools, agriculture, health, and numerous other areas so vitally important for everyone’s wellbeing. The people of St. Kitts and Nevis need to take due recognition of the evils of corruption, how it hampers our development and impairs our future, and be prepared to exercise the actions necessary to rid our beloved little nation of this scourge. SCHEME UNITY, Beware! Take heed. You WILL be held to account.
