BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (FEBRUARY 2018): The Sandy Point Primary School on Sunday February 4th won the Inaugural Maxin Isiah Gary Matthew (MIGM) Classic Track Meet which was held at the Sandy Point High Recreational Ground.

The Dr. William Connor Primary School came in second while the St. Paul’s Primary School came in third.

In an exclusive interview with member of the Outer Limits, Mr. Hugh Matthew Jr, he revealed that one of the aims of the meet is to promote athletic supremacy between Primary Schools, High Schools and Elite Athletes.

“Another aim of the Track meet is to bring back the grass root experience where one can experience the thrill of track and field where it all started, on the grass”, Mr. Matthew added.

“It is also our aim to revive rural west comradery and bring back the hype to athletics. We also hope to cater to the rural communities… persons can enjoy sports without travelling all the way to Basseterre then having to make their way to the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium,” he said.

Matthew told this media house that it is their intention to have this meet annually.

“We are hoping to do this annually and working towards having it included on the Athletic Fixture for the upcoming year,” he added.

“Next year we are planning to do it bigger and better and we will try to include the high schools on a greater level”, he continued.

The other participating schools were Dieppe Bay Primary School, Bronte Welsh Primary School, Irish Town Primary School and the Newton Ground Primary School.

The participating Athletic Clubs were Extreme Velocity, Titans, Over the Top, Fast Twitch, Etonics, Pacesetters and Trailblazers.

The meet was put on by the Outer Limits Athletic Club.

The sponsors for the event were Giant Malt and Smokey’s Solution.

The Outer Limits Athletics Club was officially started in 2013 and was the brainchild of Mr. Maxim Isaiah, Mr. Gary Matthew and Mr. Lloyd Phipps. The Club has grown by leaps and bounds and now trains and develops over 40 athletes around the island of St. Kitts.
