On Monday night of this week the prime minister, Dr Terrence Drew, addressed the nation over ZIZ Radio and Television, reporting on his administration’s first one hundred (100) days in office. In a frank, yet very cordial manner, Prime Minister Drew informed us of the very brisk legislative achievements to date, all of which augurs well for the improvement of our nation’s responsible governance, while cleaning up the horrible mess created over the course of the immediately seven plus years.
The performances of his other ministries also deserve highest commendations, and we of this newspaper urge everyone concerned to maintain their high levels of commitment and application. The demands of sound and progressive administration require gruelling, sustained performances, and there can be no letting up.
What will make all of this even more difficult is the fact that those who have been discarded by the electorate are most desperate in their efforts to deflect the people’s attention away from their innumerable acts of corruption. We further urge the prime minister and his administration to make good use of parliament, as a very important step in calling the miscreants to account, it being the appropriate forum through which accountability to the electorate must be realised.
Let us not be fooled! The offenders, their beneficiaries, and their agents, are all now in a state of desperation. They know what could happen to them when their misdeeds are brought to light. Therefore they will stop at nothing to avoid the punishments which lie in store for them.
