Speaking on the issue of national security and crime, he made the disclosure on Tuesday 4th April 2023, during the sitting of the National Assembly at Government Headquarters on Church Street in Basseterre.“There are opportunities that we want our young men to take advantage of, and that is why as we speak about gender equity and diversity, we are bringing on a consultant in our government, and that consultant will look at specifically at men and boys; what are the specific issues that we need to study more [and] understand more to implement sustainable long-term programmes to ensure that we keep our men and boys on the right track,” he stated. He added: “This is a serious approach that we’re going to take.

We deserve and will get sustainable, long-lasting, sustainable means of making sure that our country is secured.” The National Security Minister informed that he met with the Police Commissioner that afternoon and “he has said to me that he has met with the defence force and together they are collaborating even closer and to make more resources available in terms of manpower and national security, our ministry will not allow any resource to be withheld that is necessary to deal with the situation at hand.” According to Dr.

Drew, the Police Commissioner “assured that his operation called operation assurance is quickly being implemented to deal with the situation.” According to him: “We will deal with the situation head on . This government has not shied away from anything whether it was to open up the country when people thought it could not be done; lift all the restrictions in place.”
