BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Sunday 7th October 2018)– Yesterday’s  brazen broad daylight shooting in Sandy Point has claimed the life of one of its villagers and left another injured, now taking the Federation’s homicide count for 2018 to 24.

The community of Sandy Point was sent in a state of shock and fear after 35-year-old Elroy ‘Stanny’ Williams of Crab Hill was shot to death and Steve Woodruff of Cleverly Hill, Sandy Point was injured following a shooting incident.

According to the authorities the fatal incident occurred around 2:15 P.M.

The local authorities are reporting that in responding, upon arrival to the scene, the Willam’s motionless body “was found with what appeared to be several gunshot wounds about the body.”

Reportedly, the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) was summoned but Williams who was unresponsive was pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer.

“Officers then visited the JNF Hospital where Steve Woodruff of Cleverly Hill, Sandy Point was found with a gunshot injury to his arm. He was treated and discharged. Investigations so far have revealed that he was shot and injured during the same incident at Crab Hill,” police say.

It is understood that Williams was among a group of persons including children at a popular liming spot in Sandy Point when he was approached by a masked gunman and fired upon.

Reports reaching this media house suggest that the incident sent persons running for their lives and left some children traumatised.

The police are making an appeal to anyone who might have any information in relation to this incident to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 467-1887, 467-1888, or 662-3468 or their nearest Police Station.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
