The KFC road enhancement project has finally recommenced at Bird Rock. From all appearances, it looks as if the project will continue uninterrupted to the end this time around. This must mean that all injunctions have been lifted and residents and long-suffering road users will finally get their long-awaited traffic lights. Yippee!
Maybe it’s me, but anybody with a brain even the size of a mustard seed knew that putting traffic lights at the junction of the main roads on the Industrial Site and Bird Rock would be challenging at best. The present location of certain businesses dictated that major discussions would have to take place and compromises reached if the traffic lights were to serve everyone well. But the government, in its usual high-handed, disrespectful way, bought and installed the lights at great expense to us the taxpayers without giving any thought as to how vehicular traffic would access certain businesses located near to these traffic lights.
I saw a Facebook post of Dr. Wilkinson taking a booster shot. In that post he is saying that anyone who had their second shot more than six months ago can make the “personal decision” to get the booster shot. Is it that after six months the vaccine’s efficacy wanes to the point where a once fully vaccinated person is now viewed as being “under vaccinated?” Is it that the authorities don’t want to create mayhem and they don’t want people to think that they were fooled into believing that the two jabs would protect them for life? But maybe it’s just me alone making a mountain out of a molehill.
Labour supporters have to rally around whoever is the winner after the leadership elections on Sunday. There is no time to waste fretting if who we voted for didn’t win. The hopes and dreams of the majority of the people can only be realized if a Labour government is in power. Labour is the caring government. Only Labour builds houses. Only Labour builds schools. Only Labour builds hospitals. Only Labour brings meaningful investors and investment here to create real jobs for many. The others are only good at photo-ops.
