What, in my opinion, was keeping PAM and CCM in the coalition with Timothy was not principle or promise but money, power and shame. When Timothy was embroiled in yet another scandal way back in their first term and he made his famous speech that none of them could hold a candle of correction to him, that was their opportunity to “mash it up.” Up to now, none of them has told us why they chose to ignore Timothy’s scathing accusation that all of them were thieves with long bags. This was way more than undermining — this was saying to the world that every minister in his cabinet was taking bribes, was misappropriating and was involved in all sorts of dishonesty and therefore did not have the moral authority to point a finger of accusation at him. And they did not challenge him. They are yet to try to clear their names, because all of them need to be sent packing.
Now that PAM and CCM have finally admitted that it was a serpent in their midst all the time masquerading as a fish, they are trying their best to end the nightmare. The problem is they are trying to do it without any effort. They don’t seem prepared to give up even a day’s pay. They want a seamless transition from one leader to the next. If Timothy was cornered as Shawn said, having run out of time, why am I sensing that dissolution and terminations might have come as surprises to some former players? Shawn and the others had considered the possibility of being fired. Surely they didn’t think that Timothy would “call the motion.”
Voters, the choice is clear. The St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party candidates are mature. The St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party candidates are honest. Dr Douglas and the Party have been vindicated. We were right that Timothy was wrong for our federation. Let’s make it right again. Vote for the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party in Elections 2022.
