Congratulations to our party’s new leader Dr. Terrance Drew! After a campaign that captured the imagination of the entire population of St. Kitts and Nevis, on Sunday 28th November, 2021, Dr. Terrance Drew was elected the leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party by the National Conference. Truth be told, the government didn’t want anything to change in our party. They know that any change at all is not good for them. So that is why they were hoping, perhaps even praying, for chaos and confusion before, during and after the elections. The National Conference accepted Dr. Drew as the new leader, but they were still looking for a straw to hold on to.
I would have been surprised and disappointed if my party had allowed the elections to disintegrate into disorder and mayhem. We in Labour knew that while the leadership contest had been fierce, at the end of the day we were all Labour, and at the end of the day we would rally around the leader as we have always done, because we are laser focused on one single objective. We have much work to do. The country is looking to Labour for hope and for help.
Just so, no football, no basketball, no sporting activity will be allowed to take place unless all the players are fully vaccinated. NEOC is not making any joke at all. But these athletes are not professional — they are not being paid to play. To try to mandate the vaccine as the condition of play might not work. And as is happening with football, no other sport might be played for a while.
Because the members of NEOC and all government ministers never lost a day’s pay due to COVID-19, they don’t care what draconian rules and regulations they introduce. That is why we need forward-thinking people like the Labour Party’s very own Dr. Terrance Drew at the helm — people who know and understand the science that is available and will use it without shutting down life and people’s livelihoods just because they can. On so many levels the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party is the best choice. Choose wisely. Choose Labour.
