BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Friday 31st August 2018)-General Manager/ Director of Sun Island Clothes Ltd. Mahesh Nariani has informed that despite “major damage” to one of its Central Street stores following a fire incident earlier this week, management is focused on uniform sales in light of the new school year which officially begins on Monday 3rd September.
For now, the company’s other Indo Carib Shop located on the opposite side of the street next to Burger King is being used.
This week, during an exclusive chit-chat with this media house, when asked about the company’s future operation, Nariani shared “At this time, we do not know”, whilst noting that come next week, the contractors and builders are expected to visit the damaged building so as to make an assessment on the way forward.
In the telephone interview, he spoke to this reporter from his office situated at the parent company Sun Island Clothes Ltd.-situated at the CA Paul Southwell Industrial Site along the Bay Road area.
Nariani emphasised that right now the company is concentrating on providing uniforms in order to meet the demands of parents, guardians and students.
In regard to the recent fire, he informed that at about 8:15 on Sunday 26th August, they (management) received a call informing about the incident. He said by the and by the time they arrived to the scene, the fire brigade crew was already there working to oust the flames.
He praised the workers from the Fire and Rescue Services Department for doing “a pretty good job.”
Nariani informed that the school uniform sale promotion is still running at buy two get one free which includes shirts and tunics.
On behalf of the company, he thanked customers and well-wishers for their valuable support. He has expressed thanks for the calls and overall care.
He encourages members of the public to to give their continued support noting that such patronage “keep us going.”
“We apologise for the inconvenience,” he further remarked and quickly recapped that the company is at work making sure uniforms are available.
He highlighted that the staff wanted to do a fire sale but explained that a decision was taken to place priority on providing uniforms to the public. He said management and staff would go back to the store next week to see what can be salvaged for such a sale which might be conducted next week after the scholastic affairs.
On Monday 27th August, members of the public took advantage of a short unplanned sale event in the aftermath of fiery damage the day before.
The Indo Carib Shop (temporary Sun Island Clothes outlet) is opened Monday to Saturday from 9AM to 6PM and its factory-8AM to 5PM.
