Dear reader, what led Brothers Shawn Richards and Mark Brantley — two very sensible and intelligent persons — to believe that befriending Dr. Timothy Harris would be different to how he treated Dr. Denzil Douglas, the Labour Movement, Ernest Wigley, and others? I know that the promise by the PAM faction to make him Prime Minister and to allow their supporters to vote for him is what lured him to betray the Labour Movement in which he was Chairman, Minister of Agriculture and Senior Minister for over 18 years. But what prompted Brother Mark to join forces with this traitor, when an experienced man like Mark was expected to be a good judge of a person’s character? Was it the promise of the Foreign Affairs Ministry and travelling to distant lands, plus the double salary, that lured Mark to throw all caution to the wind?
As Ellen G. White wrote: “The greatest want of the world today is the want of men: Men, whose innermost souls are true and honest; Men, whose conscience to duty is like the needle to the pole; Men, who cannot be bought or sold; Men, who are not afraid to call sin by its right name; Men, who will stand for the right, though the heavens fall.” Our Federation today is suffering from a drought of these calibre of men.
Dr. Timothy Harris displayed loudly and visibly that treachery is in his DNA. A Prime Minister who was selected by the elected representatives of the people has fired six of those people’s representatives and is still the Prime Minister, distributing portfolios to non-elected Senators — and not even a whisper or cleared throat from the elements in our society? But it serves Brantley and Richards right. They failed to examine the horns of Dr. Timothy Harris to ascertain if he was worthy material to work with. When he made his famous speech that none of them could hold a candle of correction to him — saying to the world that every minister in his cabinet was taking bribes — they did not challenge him. They continued with him as their leader. That tells us that ALL OF THEM are TARRED with the brush of CORRUPTION. TREACHERY runs deeply in their veins. “If a person can betray those who nurtured him from infancy, how could anyone take such an individual to be their friend?”
