Children, Elderly Were Present During Deadly Hospital Attack

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts– Information reaching this media house indicates that children and senior citizens were among patients waiting at the pathology lab of the Joseph N. France General Hospital when a gunman opened fire nearby fatally wounding 31-year-old Darnel Govia of Phillip’s Village earlier this week.

As understood, Govia was accompanying someone at the lab and whilst waiting on the outside the shooting incident happened Tuesday morning (20th June) around 9:00 AM.

Police say that investigations revealed that he was shot by an assailant while at the hospital  and later died of his injuries.

Reportedly, one person is in police custody in relation to this deadly shooting that has pushed the Federation’s homicide count to 16 to date with ten on St.Kitts and the remainder of six on Nevis.

 

Glam Slam Hair Show Wows At Premiere Staging

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts-Hair flips, swinging hips and stylish poses aimed at displaying the variety of head-turning hairdos were all part of the action for the premiere of the Glam Slam Hair and Fashion Show staged on the night of Saturday 27th May.

Held at the Ocean Terrace Inn (OTI) located at Fortlands, scores of hair style fanatics, clients of the show’s featured hairdressers as well as fashionistas assembled for that first annual show of its kind.

Eye-catching wigs, weaves and dreadlocks styles were showcased collectively by popular resident licensed cosmetologist from New York in the USA Danielle Riddick of Diva Hair Studio in partnership with Vikiesh ‘Keisha’ Weekes of Keisha’s Beauty Salon and Yihisa ‘Desha’ Williams of Desha’s Lock and Twist, both from St.Kitts-Nevis and also well-known.

Among over 10 female models were two men who rocked in the fashionable dreadlock grouping.

The Labour Spokesman was in the house and apart from speaking with the hairstylist team, this media house also caught up with a notable patron in the person of the immediate former Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, who seemed quite impressed as he looked on from the audience.

Not only did the models strut their stuff in showing off the hairstyles on the runway but the stylish outfit categories complemented the beauty atmosphere which included clothing like African Wear, Beach Wear, Lingerie and Club Life.

Accused Teen Girl Killer Attempts Suicide At Police Station

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- Travien Liddie, 18, one of the young men charged with killing 17-year-old Leanna Napoleon allegedly tried to take his life at a cell in the Basseterre Police Station earlier this week.

A police statement issued yesterday (Wednesday 20th June) did not give any specifics pointing to the prisoner’s identity. However, credible information received by this media house reveals that it was Liddie.

According to the local authorities, at approximately 11.40 PM on Monday 19th June, “a person in custody at the Basseterre Police Station attempted to take their own life.”

Reportedly, upon discovery of this attempt, a police officer initiated a medical emergency.

Furthermore, the person was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for medical observation and later detained under watch for other observations.

It was also reported that the officer was commended for his adherence to the prisoner control procedures and for responding quickly to the incident.

Liddie, along with brother of the murdered teen 19-year-old Brandon Lee Wells were charged with the offence of murder on Saturday 17th June and Monday 19th June, respectively.

 

Rising Artiste Releases New Song With Video After Criticism

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts– Rising national artiste 26-year-old Rahsaun ‘R B The Mayor’ Bass has officially released his newest jam with an official music video for a dancehall song called ‘Woman Crush’.

On Sunday night (18th June), fans and other supporters including family members and friends assembled at Boozie’s Bar located on the Frigate Bay Strip for the launch of the video which had a preview critique before being showcased publicly.

Two weeks before, on Sunday 4th June, members of the media were among the specially invited guests to be treated to a private showing of  the ‘Woman Crush’ video  at the Mattingley Heights residence of the artiste’s manager  Romeo Parris of  Kactus Entertainment so as to provide feedback for tweaking from the suggestions coming out of that get together.

R B The Mayor, who is known for putting out tunes in the Hip-Hop genre is now exploring Reggae, Dancehall and Soca.

As a bonus, during Sunday’s event, the audience was treated to a sneak peek preview of a Soca song called Caribbean Vybes.

Following the official release of the music video produced by Dason Fraser of ISI Visuals, this media house interacted with a few of the attendees.

Manager Parris commented: “We took the advice of everybody, including you the members of the media, and made recommendations and some changes. I still was looking for a little more change but I think people liked the energy nonetheless. The good thing is that the distributor in Germany (of Wolf Records), before the changes, he said he liked it but I didn’t. I like what’s there now …it’s suited for Europe and those kind of persons who wants a slow Caribbean beat.”

He also applauded RB The Mayor for having a good transition from a rap into Reggae.

The artiste himself shared feedback from the song and music video launch event saying: “I feel good because the surrounding was very receptive and they seemed to like it a lot so I feel very good about that.”

RB The Mayor is said to have emerged on the St.Kitts music scene in 2015 with his hit single ‘Straight Outta St.Kitts’, produced by BobT of Hey Boii Entertainment.

As gathered, in October 2015, the video (produced by ISI Visuals) on YouTube received over 1000 views in two days. Additionally, it won the “Best Video” at the MSECA   (Mad Squad Entertainers and Celebrities Awards held in December 2015.

Man Fatally Attacked At Hospital

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts-A shooting incident early this morning (Tuesday 19th June) at the Joseph N. France General Hospital located in Buckley’s village, Basseterre has resulted in the death of a young man.

Killed is 31-year-old Darnel Govia of Phillip’s Village.

Police say Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit are investigating a shooting incident that was reported around 9.00 AM.

Reportedly, investigations revealed that the victim, shot by an assailant while at the hospital, later died of his injuries.

According to reports reaching this media house, the deceased who goes by the nickname of ‘Bushman’ had been waiting on a friend who was at the laboratory when he was attacked.

One person is in custody in relation to this deadly shooting that has pushed the Federation’s homicide count to 16 to date with ten on St.Kitts and the remainder of six on Nevis.

Leanna’s Brother Charged With Murder, Police Looking For Third Suspect

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts– The brother of 17-year-old Leanna ‘Tiney’ Napoleon found dead and buried in the mountainous Olivees area is one of the two young men charged with that crime while a third suspect is being looked for by police.

Yesterday (Monday 19th June), police reported that two suspects taken into custody on suspicion of the teen’s murder have been arrested, formally charged and cautioned.

They are the deceased’s brother 19- Brandon Lee Wells of Buckley’s Housing Development and 18-year-old Travien Liddie of St. Johnson’s Village.

Police say both have been charged with the offence of murder and were charged on Saturday (June 17) and Monday (June 19) respectively.

Reportedly, a warrant in the first instance is in existence for 19-year-old Ivan ‘Chinyman’ Phillip of Shadwell.

According to the police, he too will be charged with the offence of murder.

Reports from the local authorities indicated Napoleon was found dead and buried overnight Wednesday (14th June) in a far out mountainous region of the Olivee’s area located beyond the Buckley’s community.

Buckley’s Site was one of the two areas the teen girl, who had been missing for over a month, was last seen on Monday 8th May. The other area was on Fort Street.

Napoleon, who was a fifth form student of the Basseterre High School (BHS), was discovered in a shallow grave.

Her death is the 15th recorded homicide for 2017 in the Federation to date with nine on St.Kitts and six on Nevis.

BREAKING NEWS: Thieves Rob Post Office

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts- Police are currently investigating a robbery at the General Post Office located on the Bay Road in Basseterre.

Information reaching this media house indicates that the break-in took place sometime between overnight Sunday (18th June) and before day break this morning (Monday 19th June).

A reliable source has informed that among the items taken by masked thieves are stamps and customer- ordered packages which include items like cell phones, shoes and clothing.

Upon arrival to the scene this morning, this media house observed a police Crime Scene Unit van parked at the eastern section of the building while employees waited on the corridor.

At one point an officer wearing gloves emerged from inside the post office and a senior female officer was seen making her way to that business place also.

Leanna Found Buried in Mountain Beyond Buckley’s …Arrest Made

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts– Missing school girl 17-year-old Leanna ‘Tiney’ Napoleon was found dead and buried overnight Wednesday (14th June) in a far out mountainous region of the Olivee’s area located beyond the Buckley’s community.

Police informed yesterday (Thursday) that a body identified as the missing teenager was discovered in a shallow grave.

Napoleon, who had been missing for over a month, was last seen on Monday 8th May in the vicinity of Buckley’s Site and Fort Street.

Police say one person is in police custody assisting with the investigation.

Information reaching this media house indicate that the person in question is the teen’s brother who has been arrested and released four times concerning this missing person turned homicide matter.

Napoleon was a fifth form student of the Basseterre High School (BHS).

The teen’s death is recorded as St.Kitts-Nevis’ 15th homicide for 2017 to date.

Commissioner of Police Mr. Ian M. Queeley in speaking about the issue said: “This is not the outcome we were hoping for, our hearts go out to the family and friends of Leanna Napoleon.  We hope that the family can begin the healing process and find some closure.  As Commissioner, I ask the general public to be sensitive and keep the family in their thoughts and prayers.”

The local authorities continue to solicit the assistance of the public with regard to this investigation

BREAKING NEWS: Body Found In Mountain Area

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts– Police are reporting that a body was found in the mountainous Olivees area last night Wednesday night (14 June).

Although, the body has not yet been officially identified by the authorities, credible sources have confirmed to this media house that it is the remains of missing teen 17-year-old Leanna ‘Tiney’ Napoleon.

Notably, this morning (Thursday), a close family member took to social media express her grief.

Napoleon, who has been missing for over a month now, was last seen on Monday 8th May in the vicinity of Buckley’s Site and Fort Street.

Powell: Carnival-like Mood For Upcoming Festival

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts– The Chairman of the Artistes Selection Committee of the St.Kitts Music Festival Committee, Jonel Powell, says there is a carnival-like mood in the lead up to the 21st annual extravaganza, slated to take place next week (Thursday 22nd to Saturday 24th June) at Warner Park in Basseterre.

“The mood as I would describe it is carnival-like; people are really getting into the spirit of Music Festival.”

He made the disclosure during a one on one chit-chat with this media house yesterday (Monday 12th June).

Powell continued highlighting two of the latest pre-activities held over the past weekend.

“We just had a really successful bar crawl on Saturday where we had nothing but fantastic reviews. On Friday, we had the finals of the open mic competition and so as more and more of these fringe events are taking place and are coming off successfully, people are really getting into that Music Festival vibe.”

On Friday 2nd June, a bonus act in the person of well-known US R&B singer and songwriter K. Michelle was announced at the Music Festival edition of the FLOW Fantastic Friday event held at Cheers on Port Zante.

When asked about this unveiling of another artiste around that time period, Powell remarked: “It’s always good to come with a little surprise and there are different factors which would determine when you would drop that surprise and we did it and the response has been really, really good.”

“We think that she has certainly filled a gap and is reaching out to a younger demographic more, R&B demographic. She is somebody on top of the game right now, very popular in TV shows and all that and she just brings that additional vibe cross section of entertainment to the festival,” he added.

“Can’t Raise A Man’, Not A Little Bitter’ and ‘Love Em All’ are some of the popular jams by K. Michelle.
