BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 3rd February 2022) — Amoy Donovan, an unvaccinated hair braider, is calling on those in authority to respond to her plea to regain her employment status attached to the St. Kitts Tourism Authority. Speaking with this media house during a protest march on Thursday 3rd February 2022, the single mother of six children said she had taken documents to the Tourism Authority which she claims give her the right to be exempted from having to take the COVID-19 vaccine, but her documents were denied.

“The reason why I’m here demonstrating is that I took my documents to the Tourism Authority for them to sign it indicating that if I have to take the vaccine, give clarification to give compensation to my children, and they denied my documents. So today I am marching for my rights as a humanitarian indigenous Rastafari parent, single mother of six children, self-reliant and independent,” she said. Donovan said she was employed as a hair braider since 2019 and had been working at Reggae Beach.

“I would like to say to the Tourism Authority, please come to some kind of consideration. If I could work when the boats are not in, I could work with that — but not nothing at all, when I have children to feed especially daughters,” she expressed. As gathered, Donovan has sought legal advice in the matter.
