Citizens Concerned About Safety Following Drive By Shooting

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Sunday 15th July 2018): A drive by shooting in West Bourne Ghaut last night (Saturday 14th July) has left two men and a female injured resulting also in a nationwide outcry as members of the public raised concerns regarding the state of safety in the country.

Wounded are Kirk ‘Scotty’ Hobson of Upper Fiennes Avenue, Javed Gumbs of Lime Kiln and Gail Williams. They were all transported to the Joseph N France General Hospital.
That incident occurredy at about 8:30 P.M.

Investigations so far have revealed that a motor car, travelling along West Bourne Ghaut, stopped at the corner of Central Street, where persons were gathered on the seaside, and opened fire.

Police say Hobson and Gumbs received several gunshot injuries about the body.
Hobson underwent surgery and both he and Gumbs are warded in a stable condition.

Williams, who was standing a short distance from the corner, was grazed by a bullet on her head. She was treated and discharged.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Williams was heading to a nearby pharmacy to fill a prescription.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
