Young Man Dies Day After Being Hit By Vehicle

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday, 20th June 2024) – Police have informed that a young man on St. Kitts has died one day after being struck by a vehicle in Newtown, and that the driver is cooperating with authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.

Dead is James Morton of Monkey Hill, St. Peter’s, St. Kitts. Information reaching this media house indicates that the deceased is in his late 20s to early 30s. Reportedly, the incident took place on June 18th, 2024. Preliminary investigations reveal that Morton was struck by a vehicle while he was on George Street.

Following the incident, he was rushed to the Joseph N. France General Hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with severe head injuries, where he was warded at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in critical condition. Regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries on June 19th, – LOCAL NEWS – 2024.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) via a press release issued on Thursday 20th June said it is actively investigating the tragic traffic incident that resulted in Morton’s untimely passing. According to the authorities, at the scene of the accident, the driver of the vehicle involved was apprehended by law enforcement and is currently cooperating with authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.
