BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Monday 6th November 2023) -A former Police Commissioner of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Celvin G. ‘CG’Walwyn, was recently sworn in as the Chief of Police at Coastal Bend College located in Texas, USA. A swearing-in ceremony was held at the school’s campus on Monday 30th October 2023, officiated by County Judge George ‘Trace’ Morrill III.
With his wife Antoinette ‘Toni’ Dickerson Walwyn holding the bible on which his right hand was placed, Dr. Walwyn, solemnly swore and affirmed to “faithfully execute the duties of the office of Chief of Police and emergency management of the Coastal Bend College system, and will to the best of my ability as a licensed Texas police officer preserve, protect and defend the constitution and laws of the United States and of the Great State of Texas.” For another segment of the ceremony, with his right hand raised, Dr.
Walwyn pledged “on my honour, I will never betray my integrity, my character or the public trust. I will treat all individuals with dignity and respect and ensure that my actions are dedicated to ensuring the safety of my community and the preservation of human life.
I will always have the courage to hold myself and other accountable for all actions. I will always maintain the highest ethical standards and uphold the values of my community and the agency I serve.” Thereafter, the new Chief of Police affixed his signature to documents as part of the formality of taking up the new position.
In giving remarks ahead of the swearing-in, President of Coastal Bend College Dr. Justin Hoggard praised Dr. Walwyn’s work experience as well as commitment shown to the position. “We’re very fortunate to have Dr. Celvin Walwyn as our incoming chief.
