Spyder Blamed For Killing Girlfriend

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (MONDAY, 29TH JANUARY, 2018)- Wayne ‘Spyer’ Chapman, 52, was  the main suspect in connection with the murder of his girlfriend Shirley Dawn Morton, and now police have officially charged him with the crime.

A police press release issued last night (28th January) relayed the information about the Bucks Hill, Hanley’s Road resident.

On Sunday 21st January, after responding to a report, police found the lifeless body of 45-year-old Shirley Dawn Morton of Hanley’s Road with visible injuries to the head at her boyfriend’s house.

An autopsy revealed that multiple blunt force traumas to the head causing brain injury led to her death.

Chapman was listed as a person of interest following the discovery of his girlfriend’s lifeless body. He had been on the run from police until was caught last Thursday (25th January) at around 1:00 PM at Taylor’s Pasture in Gingerland.

Morton’s death is the second recorded homicide for the Federation for the new year with both deadly incidents happening on the sister isle of Nevis.

Police investigations into the matter are continuing.

United States Supports Cultural Preservation at Historic Bath Hotel in Nevis

On January 17, the U.S. Embassy joined representatives of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, including Nevis Premier, the Honorable Mark Brantley, along with members of the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society at the Bath Hotel in Nevis to mark the successful completion of the second phase of restoration and stabilization work at the historic site. The project was supported through the U.S. Government’s Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation, with total funding of just over US$400,000 provided across two phases.
