Often times, workers visit our office (the St. KittsNevis Trades and Labour Union) at Masses House when they have an issue. And although we are happy to know that you are confident and comforted that you have an avenue to address your grievance(s), we want you to develop a relationship with this workers’ friendly organisation in ensuring that as a workers’ representative body, you play an active role in its strength!
We want you to be educated and knowledgeable about your rights as a worker in general. In our labour laws exist pieces of legislations such as the Protection of Employment Act and the Protection of Wages Ordinance which covers the areas of frequently asked questions in addressing your grievances.
At present, the SKNT&LU is part of the National Tripartite Committee which is tasked with putting together one document via an exercise of revising and updating the laws where needs be. Of course our focus would be primarily on representing the best interests of workers.
For the occasion of International Workers’ Day (Labour Day), members of our executive will be out and about on the streets, and we want you to feel free to approach anyone of us and interact.
