BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Thursday 21st December, 2017)– “The fans are in for a treat, pure high energy and a burst of excitement when Dejour hits the stage!”
So said dad-manager Dwight Alexander, during a chit-chat with this media house, about this year’s top contender of the eliminations round leading up to 2017 Soca Monarch finals, slated to take place tomorrow (Friday 22nd December) at the Sugar Mill housed at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium.
Following semi-finals held last Friday night (15th December) at Carnival Village in Basseterre, Dejour belting out his hit song called ‘Soca Rebel’ scored 412 points for the top spot among 11 chosen finalists from a field of 22 participants.
The qualifiers and the points allotted are: Nikhail (407), Jazzbo (405), Nicha B (394), Mr. Hype (393), Dagah (388), P Plus- (378), Lil Miss (376), Jeezy Sparta (375), Steel (375), K- Warner- 374 pts and C-Mac- (371).
This year, for the Soca Monarch Competition, the two separate segments of Groovy and Power have been joined.
Hence, the current reigning Groovy and Power champions Rucas and KT & Lax, respectively will compete against the eleven finalists.
Orlando Octave, a singing sensation from Trinidad and Tobago will be the guest performer. He is the artistes behind the hit 2017 soca song called ‘Single.’
Gates open from 8:00 PM and a DJ is expected to kick off the entertainment action until the soca contest scheduled for 10:00PM.
