BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Tuesday, 5th December, 2017)– An American citizen was taken in police custody yesterday (4th December) following investigations into a report by Sharon Brantley, the wife of Deputy Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, about a drone flying near the family’s home on the sister isle of Nevis.

According to the local authorities, Brantley indicated that an unmanned drone was spotted hovering feet away over their family home in Montpelier.

Reportedly, as a result, police began their investigations and U S. citizen Matthew MacMillan was held for questioning regarding the matter and was released late yesterday.

This media house understands that drones which have varied uses are described as aerial vehicles or systems that operate by remote control using eyes in the sky type of mechanism.

As communicated to the public following Monday’s incident, “police will continue to take seriously all reports of harassment and threats of harassment made by citizens and residents of Nevis.”

It was further outlined that: “The police are, therefore, asking the public and, especially operators of drones, to act responsibly so that the safety and security of all citizens and residents is maintained.”
