NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (August 25, 2020) — Superintendent Lyndon David, Officer in Charge of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Nevis Branch, is urging persons to adhere to new COVID-19 regulations, including the mandatory wearing of face masks in public places for adults and children.
At the Nevis COVID-19 Task Force Briefing on August 24, he reminded persons that they could face the Magistrate Court or be ticketed for defying the regulations. “It has been observed that many persons are failing to wear their face masks that would cover their nose and mouth. We are still waiting for tickets to be printed but as soon as that is done, you would be ticketed. This does not negate the fact that you can also be summonsed,” he said.
Superintendent David addressed promoters and entertainers, noting that the new regulations require anyone wishing to host events with large numbers of people to apply to the Commissioner of Police with consultation with the National COVID-19 Task Force, providing plans for social distancing, hand sanitizing, and venue capacity. The National COVID-19 Task Force recently met with entertainers and promoters in both islands to update them on the protocols they must follow before being granted permission to operate.
