NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS — The Nevis Island Administration’s Department of Gender Affairs hosted its first annual Women’s Asset Building Seminar under the theme “Own Your Future: Women, Wealth and Home Ownership,” bringing together approximately 50 women for an evening of practical learning and expert guidance focused on financial empowerment and long-term asset building. Minister of Gender Affairs Hon. Senator Jahnel Nisbett said: “Often women focus primarily on taking care of children, spouses, parents, and neglect focusing on their wellbeing, and this workshop was targeted specifically towards that group so that they could realize it’s never too late to achieve those personal and financial goals.” The seminar featured presentations on insurance protection and investments, savings, loans and credit awareness, maximising retirement income, and legal protections and safeguarding assets.
ILO RENEWS ENGAGEMENT WITH SKN ON DECENT WORK PRIORITIES — ILO News
BASSETERRE, Saint Kitts and Nevis (ILO News) — The International Labour Organization (ILO) joined national stakeholders in Basseterre from 21 to 24 April 2026 in a series of engagements that reaffirmed ILO’s technical support for national priorities for advancing decent work. Minister of Labour Marsha Tamika Henderson tabled as immediate priorities action to modernise the Labour Code and revitalise the National Tripartite Committee — the principal forum for consultation between government, workers and employers. The Ministry also expressed interest in the ratification of several ILO Conventions. A widening gap between TVET training and the skills the labour market actually needs also emerged as a challenge. The mission reaffirmed the ILO’s role as a partner and opened fresh spaces for technical support and advisory across social protection, labour market governance and workforce development.
