Seven Taiwan troupes are set to feature at the 2026 Festival Off Avignon in France and Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the UK, spotlighting the vibrancy of the country’s performing arts sector. According to the Ministry of Culture, the groups chosen for the Festival Off Avignon (running July 4–25) are Chun Dance, Kuo-shin Chuang Pangcah Dance Theatre, Seed Dance Company and Dashing Theater, performing “Trace of Belief,” “Infinity Loop,” “Lost Connection” and “The Rite of Spring” respectively. At the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (August 7–31), the event’s Taiwan Season will showcase “Birthday Party” by Lu Production, “Under Mask” by Mailantia Dance Company, “The Wall” by Seed Dance Company and “Proximities” by LEI Dance Theater. The pieces focus on issues spanning self-identity, cultural memory, reflections on science and technology, and emotional connection in contemporary society. Minister of Culture Li Yuan said the participation will broaden international perception of Taiwan beyond its economic, technological and medical strengths. The Ministry will also host a gathering for Taiwan-France Cultural Award winners to mark the accolade’s 30th anniversary.
