Governor Antoine Reappointed to Eastern Caribbean Central Bank for Second Term

The Monetary Council has approved the reappointment of Timothy N. J. Antoine as Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank for a new five-year term commencing 1st February 2021. Chairman Dr. Timothy Harris commended Antoine “for his stewardship over the past five years, especially over the past year,” saying he “has led the Bank with vision, empathy and a keen eye for innovations.” OECS Director General Dr. Didacus Jules noted that under Antoine’s watch the ECCB became “the first central bank in the world to have issued a digital version of its currency,” while maintaining the viability of the EC Dollar “in a period of unprecedented uncertainty and volatility.”
