Basseterre, St. Kitts: An early morning fire at the Circus area in downtown Basseterre has damaged a number of establishments that are located in the two storey wood and concrete building which houses Ashbury’s amongst others.

According to Fire Chief, Everrette O’ Garro, members of the Fire and Rescue Department responded to a call of a fire in the Circus on Tuesday 17th October at around 5:00 A.M.

He further revealed that the fire started in Ashbury’s office which is located at the top floor and spread throughout the building.

The fire also caused extensive damages to newly opened ShaDan Production Photo Studio and Reliance Real Estate.

O’Garro said that initial investigations revealed that the fire was caused by electrical problems.

Contrary to reports, the Lemongrass Restaurant which is also located on the top floor, adjacent to Ashbury’s office was not affected by the blaze.

When this media house visited the scene, it was noticed that the staff of Ashbury’s was already dealing with the aftermath of the fire; cleaning debris from the ground floor.

Store Manager of Asbury’s, Valencia Nisbette, told this media house that although she is very emotional about the incident, she along with staff  members are looking forward to reopening very soon.
