Basseterre, St. Kitts: The Traffic Department is investigating two separate traffic accidents which occurred on Tuesday 17th October within a short space of the other.

Initial investigations revealed that both accidents were two vehicular accidents.

One occurred on Cunningham Street at about 9:50 A.M involving two vehicles, PA3371 which was driven by Michelle Nichols of Ponds Extension and P3596 owned by Anthony Rochester and driven by Glenville Rochester of Newton Ground.

Authorities say that motorcar PA3371 was travelling west along Cayon Street and motor jeep P3596 turned down Cunningham Street when the collision happened at the junction of Cunningham Street and Cayon Street.

The other accident took place shortly after at around 10:00 A.M at the Ferry Terminal and involved motor car PA7344 owned and driven by Rosannet Herbert of Mattingley Heights and motor jeep PA 1149 driven by Tomawattly Allers of Molineux.

Reportedly, the motor car was travelling east to west along the Bay Road and motor jeep came out of the stop when the collision occurred.

No one sustained life threatening injuries in these accidents.

In light of several vehicular accidents that have occurred recently, the Traffic Department is urging drivers to be more vigilant.

Head of the Traffic Department, Inspector Carl Caines, revealed that recent vehicular accidents are caused mostly by drivers not paying keen attention.

He called on drivers to observant and adhere to speed limits and also while in residential areas to be mindful of what is happening around them. For example, if the road is wet one is expected to drive slowly.

Each accident is being investigated and penalties will be handed down if necessary.
