ENGLAND VS SOUTH AFRICA THIRD TEST FIRST DAY WASHED OUT AT THE OVAL — BBC Sport
The first day of England’s deciding Test against South Africa at The Oval was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Persistent showers in London prevented any action after England won the toss and chose to field. The series is level at 1-1, both sides having won a Test apiece by an innings inside three days. England confirmed their XI, handing a debut to batter Harry Brook, while South Africa made four changes. England captain Ben Stokes confirmed that veteran pace bowlers James Anderson and Stuart Broad are eyeing next summer’s Ashes: “I honestly just can’t see a point where they decide it’s time for them to step away. They have got their eyes set on that.” Anderson has taken 24 wickets at an average of 17.66 in Test cricket this summer, while Broad has 22 at 31.90.
