BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 13th January 2022) — Well-known public figure, Michelle Stokes — an entertainer and media personality who goes by the name Sweet Sister Sensia or Triple S — has offered advice on the topic of good mental health while publicly opening up about a personal past episode of depression she struggled with. Her public video message came about days after an apparent suicide incident on St. Kitts which has seen many individuals talking about mental health well-being in general.
“When I tell people depression is real right, depression is real. I think I felt depressed one time in me life — and it wasn’t a nice feeling and it could lead you to think and do things that you don’t want to. When I got over that right, it was the happiest day of my life, and I told myself never me again,” she said.
Stokes advises persons who are feeling down to find someone they trust to talk to, and to surround themselves with happy people: “If you know you going through a state of depression, talk to somebody because that’s what I did. I called my cousin Tasha and I called me best friend and we talked and we went out and we laughed. Don’t got people around you who going remind you of why you depressed. Have people around you who are going to make you laugh, make you enjoy life, remember why you’re living, why you’re alive and why you should live.”
“Nobody wants to go through that state of depression. It’s real and it could lead people to do things that they don’t want to do. Don’t let pride kill you around because at the end of the day, you lose your whole life when you could have just talked about it. Make sure you find people who you know you could trust at least, find people who are going to make you happy because depression ain’t something that you want to play with, trust me,” she concluded.
