The Labour Spokesman Editorial
These are the early days of a New Year, and, as we ‘set sail’ on this new journey, we all wish that our country and its people could have been looking forward to ‘smooth sailing’. Rather unfortunately we find ourselves having very little or no confidence in the government — not that there was any in the present regime.
The abrupt suspension of the budget session of parliament has left our people befuddled. The absence of any explanation has only served to increase the doubts and confusion in our people’s minds. For a long time many doubted that there was any real meaning in the term ‘unity’, but now we all know for certain that it was just an expression used loosely to confuse some members of the public. Now that facade has been ripped away, quite fittingly as a result of certain individuals’ perpetual deceitfulness.
This has contributed, quite substantially, to the further loss of confidence in the regime. None of this augurs well for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis. Our country is crying out for good governance and sound leadership. The Labour Movement stands ready to deliver as we always have. Our proud record speaks for itself. The people of St. Kitts and Nevis need not despair. Be assured, Labour stands ready to take on the challenges. Once more it is a case of ‘Labour To The Rescue!’
