Sugar Boyz Squad Wins Again Drubbing of the Bahamas

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts- (Sunday 28th March 2021)- The Sugar Boyz continued their winning ways on Saturday night (March 27th 2021) after making light work of the Bahamas in their second game towards qualifying for the 2022 Football World Cup in Qatar. Team Saint Kitts and Nevis ended the game with an impressive 4 -nil win over host Bahamas at the Thomas Robinson Stadium in Nassau.

St.Kitts and Nevis made one change to its starting line up from the Dominican Republic match up. Striker Keithroy Freeman (#16), who played as a substitution on Wednesday, joined the starters in the Nassau encounter and he delivered.

The goals were score by Freeman in the 25th and 65th minutes, Kimaree Rogers (#11) in the 53rd minute and substitute Omari Sterling-James (#10) who scored a stunning 25-yard rocket in the 82nd minute.

The excellent Sugar Boyz attack was equally matched robust defence and the outstanding goalkeeping of Julani Archibald (#18) who has had no goals scored against him in the World Cup qualifiers so far.

Saturday’s match puts the Sugar Boyz at the top of the Group F Table of the North America, Central America and Caribbean grouping having had 2 wins in as many matches. The team has 6 points with a goals difference of +5.

Other games played in the first round of qualifiers sees Haiti defeated Belize (2-nil), Curaçao beat St. Vincent and the Grenadines (5-nil), Trinidad and Tobago won against Guyana (3 -nil), Bermuda lost to Canada (1-5), Panama overcame Barbados (1-nil), El Salvador beat Grenada (2-nil), Nicaragua dominated Turks and Caicos (7-nil), Dominican Republic trounced Anguilla (6-nil), Guatemala made light work of the British Virgin Islands (3-nil), Antigua and Barbuda thrashed the US Virgin Islands (3-nil), and played goalless loss against Suriname’s 6 unanswered goals.

Antigua and Barbuda tops Group A with 4 points (1 win, 1 draw). Suriname, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic lead in Groups B, C and D respectively with 6 points each (2 wins). Nicaragua and Haiti are tied at 3 point each (1 win) as the leaders in Group E.

The winning Sugar Boyz return to the federation on today to continue their preparations for the remaining first round qualifier games against Guyana (June 4) and Trinidad and Tobago (June 8).
