On many occasions, we of this newspaper have tried to warn you, our people, the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, that succumbing to the temptations of the SCHEME UNITY lot would end us all in deep trouble — political, social and economic. We always do so with a genuine concern for you, our people, and our country as a whole. Please be assured that we are NOT the ‘I told you so’ kind of people. It gives us no joy whenever we have been proven correct in the face of your sufferings. However, we do feel it necessary to remind you, from time to time, of these very important lessons.
Over and over we warned that those who were bent on removing the Labour and NRP administration were not genuine persons, that they were deceitful, and that their objectives and designs were self-serving, selfish goals. They and their sycophants manufactured all kinds of ‘crises’ as part of their efforts to undermine your confidence in our beloved Comrade Leader, Dr. The Right Honourable Denzil Llewellyn Douglas, and his administration. In time it became clear that some members of SCHEME UNITY had been involved in stimulating the wave of criminal and anti-social activities which had bedevilled our fair land for many years. We warned that such was a most dangerous practice, and one that would eventually come back to haunt the perpetrators and enablers.
Indeed, what goes around comes around. Recent ‘developments’ are but the beginning of the ‘coming around phase’. We remind you, our people, that the ‘coming around phase’ is usually worse than the ‘going around phase’ — and in our case it is going to be much, much worse, given the extent to which the institutions of the state have been corrupted and hollowed out. We, the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, now find ourselves faced with the monumental task of digging our country out from the political, social and economic morass into which we have been thrust by the SCHEME UNITY lot — and that is in addition to our having to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic. Only WE can take back our country! Let us all ‘gird our loins’, put our backs to the wheel, and give all that it requires to accomplish that task.
