Elderly Man Arrested Following Square Stabbing

BASSETERRE, St.Kitts (Monday 3rd June 2019)– Police have informed that an elderly man wanted in connection with the recent stabbing which took place at the Independence Square has been taken into custody.

Arrested is 66-year-old Purcell Hope of New Town.

Local authorities say he was arrested on Tuesday 28th May, four days after the wanted bulletin was issued.

Media houses have been thanked for assisting in disseminating the information as well as members public for their assistance.

On the afternoon of Friday 17th May afternoon, officers responded to a report of a wounding, which revealed that Chad V. Seaton of Harbor View, Bird Rock was stabbed from behind in his upper left chest area with a sharp object by an assailant.

 He was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

 Seaton is believed to be in his 30s or 40s.

To date, Hope has not charged. However, police have classified the stabbing as a wounding with intent matter.
