The Eastern Caribbean Home Mortgage Bank (trading as ECHMB Capital) will reach a historic milestone on April 22, 2026, marking its “Year of the Pearl” under the theme, “A Proven History, A Promising Tomorrow”.

ECHMB Capital was established in April 1996 by a treaty agreement of the Governments of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) and other regional financial institutions among its shareholders.

ECHMB Capital is a specialized financial institution focused on strengthening the secondary mortgage market in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) through the provision of liquidity support to the primary market; and supporting and developing money and capital markets within the union.

The anniversary will be commemorated from March 2026 to February 2027 with a dynamic lineup of exciting events and initiatives.

Media Launch and Mixer | The celebrations kicked off with a Media Launch and Mixer on March 20, bringing together key media partners, stakeholders and the ECHMB team at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Randy Lewis, highlighted the construct of the Bank, paying homage to the visionaries who paved the way for its establishment, the Bank’s achievements over the past three decades and showcased its ongoing commitment to its stakeholders. To commemorate the ECHMB Capital’s “Year of the Pearl”, the CEO unveiled two major initiatives:

  • The Grant 30: An investment program providing 30 new investors from the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) with $1,000 each, to invest in the Bank’s products.
  • The Hon. Sir K. Dwight Venner Scholarship: A financial aid program designed to support an ECCU student throughout their entire degree at the University of the West Indies.

The Governor of the ECCB and Chairman of the ECHMB Capital, Mr. Timothy N. J. Antoine, reaffirmed the ECHMB Capital’s commitment to regional self-reliance, pointing to a massive portfolio growth from $9 million in 1996 to $500 million today. Staying true to the vision of founding members, led by the late Hon. Sir K. Dwight Venner, the institution continues to drive home ownership and capital market growth through innovative wealth-building tools.

In honor of this significant milestone, the Chairman of the ECHMB Capital’s 30th Anniversary Committee, Mr. Jarelle Amade, also introduced a celebratory program featuring:

Church Service | On April 19, a special church service will be held to mark the anniversary, to reflect on the Bank’s positive impact on the region and provide an opportunity for employees and stakeholders to gather in gratitude and celebration.

This informative series seeks to educate the public across the currency union on the necessary sequential steps when undertaking home construction within the region. Some of the stakeholders will range from financial institutions to building contractors and engineers.

ECHMB Gala | The Bank will host a Gala in October, with the goal of bringing together key stakeholders from across the region to celebrate its 30-year contribution in elegance.
