BASSETERRE, St. Kitts-(Thursday 14th March 2024) -In a lead up to the highlyanticipated 26th edition of the St. Kitts Music Festival to be staged in June 2024, social media users have taken to such platform to share and guess choices of entertainers they want to see take the stage this time around.
Music lovers and partygoers have been flooding the comment section of the St. Kitts Music Festival’s official Facebook page under a poster shared on Tuesday 12th March 2024, informing that the wait is almost over with an Artistes Reveal slated for Friday 15th March with the line ‘GUESS WHO’S COMING TO St.
Kitts’. That post has received over 400 reactions and over 190 comments. Of note, up to press time on Thursday night (14th March), there was no further updates in sharing time or venue and or platform for the unveiling. In January this year, a save the date poster for 22nd to 30th June 2024 was also shared with the caption “#VentureDeeper into the heart of an extraordinary 9-day experience like no other!

Your journey awaits! #St. Kitts Music Festival” Music Festival organizers have been facing criticism for what some people view as a late timeframe for the unveiling or at least teaser for this year’s line-up.
Some people have also been calling for a diverse blend of different and first time performers. Chris Brown, SZA, Usher, and Nicki Minaj are among the most frequently mentioned artistes thus far. About this weekend’sunveiling, one social media user has said such is “long overdue  and another relieved of waiting has commented “Finallyy” while one more is hoping that the full line-up would be revealed saying “Since you all took forever and a day, I hope all artist being revealed at once.” Among the critics is former St.
Kitts Music Festival Chairman of Artiste Selection and Production Jonel Powell (of the opposition People’s Action Movement-PAM) who shared his sentiments via his public figure page Facebook account. He, too, is of the view that the line-up unveiling is late and is hoping for a diverse roster.
His full post reads as follows: “What is really going on with the St. Kitts Music Festival? Last year the festival launched 3 months late and this year they are even later. Has the Minister of Tourism forgotten that this is a tourism product and that at its height it was proven that we achieve best results when giving nonresident patrons 6 months lead time?” “At the rate that the organizing committee is going we can only expect another “Jamaican” St.
Kitts Music Festival for 2024. The lack of that true international appeal to put heads in beds and boost our overall tourism product in the summer months threatens the sustainability of our Music Festival. This puts more pressure on an already stagnant economy relying on locals who are already cash strapped to pick up the slack.
“I don’t see this as a political issue. I have supported the Festival before, during and after my tenure in Government. I want to see our Music Festival succeed. I know the potential of the festival having served as its Chairman of Artiste Selection and Production for 6 years at its pinnacle to date.
