BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 21st September 2023) -An autopsy report has indicated that Kevonne Smithen, the 24-year-old male gas station worker who was fatally stabbed on the job, died from injuries sustained about his upper body, including a wound to the heart.

A police statement revealed that cause of death was “hypovolemic shock due to a perforating wound to the heart & a stab wound to the anterior chest wall.” The young man’s body was examined by Resident Pathologists Dr. Adrian Nunez and Dr.

Naudica Phillip on Monday 18th September 2023. In other related news, police have arrested and charged two brothers in their early 20s, namely 21 year-old Danny Blake and 22 year-old Elvis Blake, both of New Pond Site, St.

Kitts, for Smithen’s murder. Reportedly, both men were charged on September 18th at the Basseterre Police Station. On Thursday 14th September, wanted posters were issued, and on the following day (15th September), police gave an update that they were in custody following their apprehension in the Cayon area that day.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force extends profound gratitude to the general public for their assistance in this matter. A continued call was made encouraging persons with information about other matters of interest to call the nearest Police station, or the Crime Stoppers Hotline, 707.

Police say the fatal wounding that occurred on Monday 11th September at a gas station on Victoria Road, Basseterre, St. Kitts, between 6:30PM and 7PM. Reportedly, having received reports of the incident, officers of the Violent Crime Unit (VCU) and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Royal St.

Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, Smithen was observed laying motionless on the ground with a knife lodged in his back and multiple wounds about his body. According to police, initial inquiries indicate that Smithen, an employee of the gas station, was accosted by two (2) armed assailants while attending to vehicles.

Reportedly, the assailants about the body several times before fleeing the scene. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the reportedly struck and stabbed him scene.
