BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Thursday 7th September 2023) – Six contestants for the Miss St. Kitts-Nevis National Queen Pageant have been unveiled, featuring a field of diverse body type beauties ready to take to the stage to vie for the prestigious Sugar Mas (St.
Kitts-Nevis National Carnival) title. They are Ambassador #1: 20-year-old Ry’anna Buchanan (from Middle Island), Ambassador #2: 23-year-old Azariah Vanterpool (from Half Way Tree), Ambassador #3: 19-year-old Jeymi Peets (from Camps), Ambassador #4: 22-year-old Shavel Watson (from Buckley’s), Ambassador #5: 25-year-old Desanne Maynard (Carifesta Village, St.
Peter’s) and Ambassador #6: 23-year-old Desnarine Hanley (from St. Peter’s). At a Sugar Mas 52 launch ceremony held on Wednesday 6th September 2023 at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel, the ambassadors were showcased via pre-recorded video presentation followed by in-person introduction while strutting and posing in identical sparkly aqua green dresses.
The short fitted dressed collectively displayed their various curves before the audience gathered at the sponsorship type cocktail event. That night marked 100 days until Sugar Mas 52. Among those in attendance were sponsors, perspective sponsors and members of the media.
The well-anticipated pageant is slated to take place on at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium in Basseterre.
Carnival Chairperson Shannon Hawley stated during her remarks: “I would like to express my gratitude for everyone to everyone who is here this evening. We’re really appreciative to see so many sponsors and prospective sponsors who have graced us with your presence midweek to witness the reveal of these six beautiful Contestants as well as to receive an update on the National Carnival activities.” “You guys were absolutely amazing this evening your grace your poise your talented and your testament to the depth that resides in our nation.
It’s not easy to enter the National Carnival Queen competition and we’re so grateful that the six of you have made that decision to enter the competition and we look forward to one of the best Miss St. Kitts and Nevis Queen Pageants in the history of St.
Kitts and Nevis,” she also commented in applauding “the exceptional six young ladies.” Speaking about the nature of the launch event, Hawley said: “Today we celebrate more than just a gathering of generous supporters and sponsors. We celebrate a shared vision of unity culture and the boundless potential of our beloved sugar mass.
It is with great pleasure that I extend my heartfelt appreciation to each and every one of you for joining us on this super exciting journey. Our early launch of Sugar Mas 52 has ignited a fervor of anticipation among our community and beyond The response to our launch of sugar mass has been overwhelming and we have witnessed an unprecedented surge in participation as you heard earlier today for every single carnival event as well as for private events J’ouvert and the Grand Parade.

teens, from the soul-stirring melodies of Calypso and Soca to the regal elegance of the Miss St. Kitts and Nevis [Queen] Pageant. Our carnival events have become alive like never before.” She continued: “This early start has also given us the opportunity to make thoughtful adjustments to our carnival events ensuring that each experience is more extraordinary than the last.
As you have seen here tonight, this collaborative spirit has been the driving force behind the innovative changes that will enhance the carnival experience for all stakeholders including you as sponsors. As we stand on the cusp of another carnival season.
Allow me to extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the dedicated sponsors who have stood by our side year after year nurturing the spirit of sugar mass and helping it evolve into the dazzling spectacle it is today. Your unwavering commitment and support have elevated our carnival to new heights allowing us to create lasting memories and cherish traditions for generations to come.
We look forward to your continued support for Sugar Mas 52, and to all prospective sponsors who have joined us this evening as I said earlier you will be receiving your sponsorship proposals from us within the next 24 hours…” The Carnival Chairperson thanked her a dedicated team and our executive members and support staff. In closing, Hawley encouraged all: “Let us forge ahead with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm.
Our St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival is more than even an event; it is a celebration of who we are where we come from and the limitless potential that lies ahead of us.
