When history making events happens elsewhere around the world whether good or bad, we talk about it and we are react to the events with much interest. We watch the news, we seek information, we replay videos and are even captivated by the documentaries which goes into details about such events.
But how many of us pay attention to our local history through seeking general knowledge and just by having or developing a thirst to know about our country and people through the chapters of history. Let us take for instance, the 53rd anniversary of the MV Christena disaster was commemorated on Tuesday 1st August 2023.
But on a public scale how have we as a people acknowledge the tragic happening. I am not talking about we the people from a government standpoint but we as a people in general. There are generations of us who lost loved ones, colleagues, friends among other on that fateful day when a recorded 321 individuals lost their lives after the interisland government operated ferry sank.
