There is a particular phraseor cliche (overused expression) according to some individualsthat many people all around the worldincluding St. Kitts-Nevis find themselves uttering at the start of a new year, and that is ‘New Year, New Me’.

Year after year, it is even more special to yearn for betterment while being emotionally wrapped by the warmth of the Christmas season filled with such love, joy and optimism. The reality is that with the dawn of a new year, undoubtedly for many individuals, a motivational feeling evokes within the human spirit to be particularly conscious about a new start pertaining to our lives.

This way of thinking and hoping for better can be applied to our personal or professional lives. For instance, some may have on their wish lists – goals to hit the gym, find more time for self-care in general, finally start a new business venture, perhaps do more reading, pursue your dream job/career and even getting in touch with your spirituality in being closer to the Creator.

Looking over the past year, some of us are able to assess areas of our lives which brought much happiness while on the flip side we can equally acknowledge the parts that need improvement too. The priceless value on this journey called life is that, each new day is a present and each day brings with it the possibilities to make the changes we want to see within our lives.

In making your resolutions, be realistic about your goals, have proper time management and applaud the small steps you make in making progress. Many of us are quite aware of what we want for ourselves while some of us have some stuff to figure out.

It is very important to understand that we need not to compete or compare our lives with others. No one is perfect. The decisions we make create the stitches in the fabric of our lives as our focus, discipline and desire go hand in hand in customising our realities, opportunities as well as our hopes and dreams for the future.

To those of you who have started the year on a bitter note in grieving the loss of loved ones, being unemployed, ill or dealing with other challenges, all the best wishes to you. Tomorrow never comes. Therefore, let us focus always on what we are doing today!

So if you are committed to making New Year’s resolutions, Kudos to you! May 2023 Be A Prosperous One!
