BASSETERRE, St.Kitts- The telecommunication firm Flow, which is a subsidiary of Cable & Wireless, on Friday 29th September launched its 4G LTE (Long-Term Evolution), offering customers in St.Kitts-Nevis experience faster download and upload speeds on their Mobile devices.

Local reporters, representatives of the Flow family as well as other invited guests assembled at Happy Endings Bar & Restaurant located in Charlestown, the capital of sister isle Nevis, for the grand occasion.

Customer Experience Manager for Flow in Nevis Rhodell Whittaker gave highlights of the newly-launched service.

“As usual, Flow is at the forefront of providing faster and reliable mobile data service to its customers. LTE is the fastest development system in the history of mobile communications. With LTE technology, your mobile devices will process high speed data and content at a better rate  for gaming, banking , streaming just to mention a few and will all seamlessly work together on your mobile phones.”

“We appreciate that there has been a growing demand for internet bandwidth with faster downloads and uploads speeds. We are pleased to announce today that you’ll now be able to experience a faster, smoother, richer mobile internet experience than never before,” he added.

Whittaker said that there a few areas in the Federation which are key sites with data usage at peak featuring Charlestown in Nevis and for St.Kitts- Basseterre (west bound direction to the West Farm community), St. Peter’s, Bird Rock and Frigate Bay.

“Please note that LTE will not be available throughout the whole islands of St.Kitts and Nevis but will be in the near future,” he told.

Flow General Manager David Lake, in touching on the significance service launch, expressed that it “ushers in the fourth generation of mobile technology in our market putting us ahead of many companies and ahead of many countries around the globe.”

He stated that the company has invested millions in the service.

“We at Flow have invested millions in our LTE network this year and we’ve earmarked millions more to ensure that our Federation is equipped with one of the best LTE networks in the entire Caribbean region. We are giving Nevisians and Kittitians the ability to be seriously connected.”

Lake added: “What does this mean: 4G LTE is to mobile connectivity what Broadband internet was to dial-up. It will give our customers an enhanced mobile data experience. It would be as if you were connected to a fixed Broadband line with download speeds approaching 50 megs and upload speeds over 10 megs. In other words, it would be as if your smartphone or your tablet were at home with a dedicated broadband connection while you are on the go.”

As mobile devices and related connectivity continue to become more and more embedded in the fabric of our society, the presence of this LTE network will directly shape the future of our Federation, allowing for faster and more convenient ways of doing business and staying connected to what matters most.”

In order to access the service, customers will need to collect a free 4G-enabled SIM card at the company’s store.

“To enjoy the benefits of Flow LTE, customers simply need a compatible LTE device updated with the latest software and an LTE sim which is available free at any of our Flow retail stores on Main Street Charlestown or Fort Street Basseterre and to facilitate the high speed data experience flow will be launching data rich plans for both prepaid and postpaid customers to better enable you to utilise our new leading edge mobile connectivity.

Lake reaffirmed the commitment of Cable & Wireless and Flow to the continued technological advancement of telecommunications in Nevis and St.Kitts.

“We’ve remained driven to deliver the very best communication services to government businesses, families and individuals. Let Flow help you stay connected.”
