The Labour Spokesman Editorial
The people of St. Kitts and Nevis are greatly relieved, and quite visibly so. Most everyone has been expressing joy at the calmness and aura of normalcy which has returned to our land immediately following, and as a direct consequence of Labour’s overwhelming victory achieved at the recent general elections. Our heartiest congratulations go out to the candidates, their workers and other supporting persons, and to all comrades, friends, and supporters of Labour. We also thank those who are members of other parties, but who felt deeply moved to vote for Labour on this occasion.
After decades of evil, treachery, back-stabbing, inciting (and paying for) gang violence, staged robberies, outrageous corruption, and numerous other forms of criminal activity, much of which resulted in horrendous losses of lives, the people of our beloved little nation at long last awakened to the reality back of it all. Though unwilling to believe that anyone could be capable of such wickedness, Kittitians and Nevisians suddenly realised that all along, the decades of instability had been engineered by a power-hungry, self-serving, ultra-greedy, demonic creature who contrived to convince many that someone else — specifically the then leader of Labour, Comrade Denzil Douglas — was responsible for his evil deeds. By now it should be clear for all to see that the perpetrator of said mischief is, beyond any shadow of a doubt, a ‘PhD graduate’ of The Paul Joseph Goebbels School of Propaganda. Goebbels was Hitler’s propaganda minister. His mantra was ‘the bigger a lie the better,’ and it seems to have worked for the local pupil — but only for a while. As the old saying goes, time is longer than twine. And, believe it or not, karma is real, quite real!
Our new administration has gotten off to a fabulous start, and we MUST each do our part, in every way necessary, to keep them on track and sustain them in their efforts to do good for our nation. But it is only a matter of time before certain elements begin to launch their personal attacks on Comrade Dr. Terrence Drew. We must all be prepared for that onslaught. As we have many times in the past, we once again urge you, our people, to bear in mind the warning of that great philosopher, George Santayana: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
