Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 22, 2020 — Announcing his resignation as St. Kitts and Nevis’ Ambassador to the United Nations, His Excellency Sam Condor said the upcoming general elections give the people of St. Kitts and Nevis the opportunity to fix the myriad of problems facing the twin-island, including electoral and constitutional reform, unifying the fractured nation, good governance, sustainability and resilience.

“The People’s Labour Party that I co-founded has deviated from its founding principles and I can no longer influence its direction. Regrettably, they have failed to implement the Good Governance Agenda that was our mantra in 2015. These good governance measures were deemed urgent and necessary to strengthen democracy and to end the vicious cycle of recrimination, hostility and tribalism among our people,” said Condor.

Having had much time to reflect, Condor said he has concluded that it is more prudent to be part of a movement — the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party — that has shown contrition for its missteps and is prepared to censure itself. “Honesty, humility and selfless service have always been my watchwords and I will never compromise them for anything or anyone. That is why I am at peace with all my decisions, past and present. I urge all to approach the upcoming poll with an open mind, and seriously scrutinize every candidate and every party. I implore you to make wise decisions for the future of the next generation and the country as a whole,” Condor said.
